Intro

“This is where yoga meets the body’s own intelligence.” — Dr. Sri Soham

Osteo-Yoga is a 50-hour specialization that brings osteopathic principles — joint mechanics, fascia, the nervous system, the pain cycle — into the yoga room. Over five intensive days, you will learn to read a body before you teach it: how to screen a student's movement, recognize the postural patterns behind common pain, and choose or modify a pose for the tissue actually in front of you, not a generic sequence.

This is not a course in diagnosis or manipulation. It is a course in assessment-led, pain-aware teaching — the skill that turns a yoga teacher into someone a student with a bad knee, a stiff back, or an old injury can actually trust.

Why Osteo-Yoga

We teach from four ideas: the body functions as one unit, structure and function are inseparable, the body already knows how to heal once the way is cleared, and good teaching follows from what you actually observe — not a default sequence. Most pain, in our experience, is a cycle: guarding restricts movement, restriction deconditions tissue, deconditioning raises the load, and the load feeds the pain again. Breaking that cycle takes assessment, not a harder stretch.

Before enrolling, understand what this course does not teach you: to push a student deeper into a shape. It teaches you to notice what a body is telling you, then choose accordingly. If your intention is to collect more advanced postures, this is not that course.

How We Train

Training is experiential and hands-on. You will practice the full Global, Local & Focal assessment framework on real partners — standing, seated, and supine screening — before ever applying it in a teaching context. You will learn consent-based supportive touch: how to ask, how to name a touch before giving it, and how to stop the instant a student asks.

Across the five days, you move from assessment to the pose library (hips & pelvis, spine & thorax, shoulders & neck, full-body toning) to hands-on assisting, then put it together in a supervised teaching practicum. You leave knowing not just what each pose does, but why you would choose it for a specific student.

Is This Course For Me?

This is a specialization, not an entry point into teaching. It is built for:

  • Certified yoga teachers (200-hour or equivalent) who want to teach safely around common pain populations — stiff backs, arthritic joints, post-injury students
  • Massage therapists, physiotherapists, naturopaths, and other movement or health professionals who want to bring yoga into their practice

A 200-hour certificate is not required.

What This Certificate Is (and Isn't)

Graduates teach anatomically-informed, assessment-led yoga with consent-based supportive touch. This course does not train or license osteopathic manipulation, diagnosis, or treatment — that scope belongs to a licensed osteopath, physiotherapist, or physician. If you already hold a separate clinical license, you may apply techniques within that license's own scope; this certificate does not expand it.

Osteo-Yoga is an educational movement-screening course. It does not replace medical diagnosis, clinical osteopathic examination, or treatment.
